Flight & travel information

Here at Le Ski we mostly charter our own flights on Sundays into Chambéry airport. We also operate our own transfers direct. Baggage is included in our holiday prices (see details below).

Why would anyone choose to travel to the French Alps on a Saturday? On Sundays the roads are much quieter and airports much calmer, leading to smoother journeys and more relaxed travellers. You also get to ski blissfully quiet pistes on Saturday while everyone else is in a traffic jam! We fly from Gatwick and Manchester to Chambéry, the closest airport to the French Alps. Catering is buy-on-board for both flights. We fly with Jet2, who have an excellent reputation for customer service.

By chartering a fixed number of flight seats for the number of chalet beds we operate, it means that our flight numbers are limited. We occasionally buy in supplementary flights if/when we run out but it is by no means guaranteed and therefore early booking is essential to secure the flights you require.

Please let us know when booking whether you will be taking skis or boards as there is a limit to the number of skis our airlines can carry. If equipment is not prebooked, the cost at the airport is greater and there is no guarantee it will be accepted by the airline.

Independent Travel

Don’t want to, or can’t, use our flights? No problem.

There’s usually a £100 reduction per person from the usual price for full priced bookings - please check at time of booking. There is also a maximum of £50 reduction on reduced price holidays (ask when booking).

If your SatNav is a bit dodgy just ask for our recommended route! We can provide addresses or What3Words locations.

Please note that if driving in France the current regulations stipulate that you must be carrying a warning triangle, high-visibility jacket/vest and a breathalyser kit. Snow tyres and/or chains are now obligatory during the winter months in the French Alps.

The New Entry/Exit System (EES)

As you may know, the EU has introduced a visitor registration system known as the EES where visitors from outside the Schengen area will have their fingerprints and photo taken (only the latter for kids aged under 12).

As of April 2026, 100% of airport arrivals have to be registered. If you have any questions, you can read the FAQs on the EU's Travel Europe website.

Please note that the EES is different to the ETIAS visa system which is due to be introduced in late 2026. When we know more, we will post the information here.
