'The chalet hosts were very friendly and provided a lovely atmosphere for us to enjoy the beautiful chalet. The food was really good and nothing was too much trouble. As usual all the Le Ski representatives were helpful and friendly.'

Snow Report 27th December 2015

27-Dec-2015

Val D'Isere

There have been sunny, blue skies for the majority of the week. Overcast/white out on Tuesday.

Average Temperatures this week have been 4 degrees in the centre of town, 1 degree up at 2700m and -1/-2 degrees at 3500m.

Snow conditions have been icy below 2700m and packed powder above 2700m, the last snowfall was 3cm on 16th December, however we are due fresh snow overnight on New Year's Eve.

Calum your RSA will be on duty every morning from 8.45 in the Gourmandine, make sure you pop along to get the best route information.

Courchevel & La Tania

Despite the lack of precipitation over the past twelve days, you’ll find the pistes in good condition this week due to the mammoth effort that the pisteurs have been undertaking each and every night.

As it stands, The 3 Valleys has the largest number of linked pistes open in Europe with 123 lifts and 173 pistes operational. Over the past few days, 600,000 cubic metres of snow has been produced and transported onto the pistes to enable enjoyable days out on the mountain!

It’s this hard work which has kept numerous runs in form, such as Creux, which has been a common fan favourite over the past week. Due to the sun shining on the mountain face in the mornings, the snow softens and becomes really enjoyable for both intermediates and advanced.

Up top in 1650 (down from Signal) the snow is in a really good condition and there are remarkably fewer patches of ice. However, it is this ice which all mountain users must be wary of as it’s easy to be lulled into a false sense of security whilst coming down the slopes. Bombing (fast paced skiing) is not advised.

As well as ice, be wary of rocks. Those skiing with their own equipment please be aware of lips and dips on the pistes, as these are often graveyards for ski edges and bases. Despite this, there are a dramatically reduced number of rocks than there has been last week.

RSA Dan will be in the tourist office in Courchevel from 9 each morning, RSA Liv will be popping round your chalets in La Tania and will also be at the bottom of the bubble at 9, make sure you have a chat with them for all the best tips and advice on where to ski.

Team Le Ski wish you a very Happy New Year!
