12-Feb-2019

There are five main ways to travel from the UK to Courchevel – by car, by train or flying to either Geneva, Lyon or Chambéry.

1. Drive from Calais to Courchevel
2. Train to Moutiers, bus to Courchevel
3. Chambéry airport to Courchevel
4. Lyon airport to Courchevel
5. Geneva airport to Courchevel

----------------

  1. Drive from Calais to Courchevel

Depending on the route you take, it’s around 550-600 miles to drive from Calais to Courchevel. That journey will take you 9-10 hours, excluding stops. It includes travel on toll roads, so factor in €60-€120 for these costs on top of petrol.

  1. Train to Moutiers

The nearest train station to Courchevel is Moutiers. From Moutiers station it’s about half an hour to Courchevel.

During the ski season there is a special Eurostar ‘snowtrain’ that goes direct from London St Pancras to Moutiers. The night train leaves London on a Friday evening, taking around 9 hours and arriving early the following morning. The day train leaves on Saturday morning, arriving Saturday evening.

    • Chambéry airport to Courchevel

Chambéry airport is the nearest airport and it takes just 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive to Courchevel. It’s a smaller airport than Lyon or Geneva, so it’s normally quicker to check in and get through security. If you take Sunday flights then the airport and the roads tend to be even quieter.

    • Lyon airport to Courchevel

It takes slightly longer than two hours to drive from Lyon Saint Exupéry airport to Courchevel. The distance is 186 kilometers or 116 miles.

    • Geneva airport to Courchevel

Geneva airport in Switzerland is 190 kilometres from Courchevel and it usually takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes to drive via Chambéry and Albertville on the motorway.

It’s also possible to drive alongside Lake Annecy, which is a shorter distance of around 150 kilometres. It can take a similar amount of time on this more scenic route, but there can sometimes be severe congestion around Annecy.
