We had a cracking Christmas in the Alps and are looking forward to starting New Year with a bang!
Père Noel was extremely kind to our Christmas guests. Already they were enjoying a magical holiday without the effort – real trees with no vacuuming, a homemade cake and mince pies, Champagne and canapés, turkey roast with all the trimmings and none of the washing up... And then, on Boxing Day morning, a huge dollop of lovely fresh powder to play in! The pistes were beautifully groomed, the powder was deep (not crisp) and even, and the mountains looking like a sparChristmas card in 3D.
With yet more snow over the weekend - and traffic chaos on Saturday, thankfully we fly on Sundays! – this week’s guests have arrived to a stunner of a first day, and sunshine due to loiter until New Year’s Day, with snow towards the end of the week. Here’s what else the resorts are providing for our entertainment…
Courchevel: Street percussion, ESF ski show and torchlit descent with mulled wine, followed by fireworks and a DJ on the snowfront in Courchevel 1850 (great fun but check the bus timetables and prepare for queues!) You can also wander up to the snowfront in 1650 and see the fireworks from afar and avoid the masses!
La Tania: Torchlit descent, disco and ‘flashmob Zumba’(!) followed by Bring Your Sisters in La Tania’s Ski Lodge
Val d’Isere: music, performance, percussions and ice carving in the streets of Val d’Isere
With more significant snowfall due at the weekend, it’s looking like January skiing is going to be pretty darned good. We’re very pleased we’re in such high resorts as we hear not everywhere has been so lucky... Click and ski!
