Snow Report 27th Jan

27-Jan-2014

Just imagine this …

You wake up to the smell of bacon and fresh coffee: someone is preparing your breakfast. You open the curtains, and feast your eyes on the whiter shade of pale adorning the trees and mountains. The clouds are lifting and sunshine glances across the peaks. Your chalet host offers you a cooked breakfast which you wolf down, (accompanied, of course, by proper tomato ketchup and English tea) then you prepare yourself for a day of playing in the powder, knowing that all you have to do for the rest of the day is find somewhere to eat lunch.

That’s exactly what this week’s guests have woken up to this morning: up to 25cm at the top. As I type, they’ll be pulling on thermals, salopettes and a few layers, then walking up to the hire shop to pick up the boots and skis they rented on arrival yesterday afternoon. They’ll head up the bubble lift and the doors will slide open to display beautifully groomed pistes with a layer of powder on top, which some – indeed, many – would equate to stepping through the pearly gates into heaven.

The week is forecast to be cold, which is an excellent excuse for plenty of hot chocolate/vin chaud stops. It also means that the snow which arrived last week and over the weekend will stay in great nick until another top up at the weekend. The sunshine will be making an appearance, which means good visibility all week. Sounds like a perfect week to us!
