What is a catered ski chalet and is it better than a hotel?

18-Feb-2019

A catered ski chalet is a wonderful home from home for your ski holiday and much better than a hotel. Here are 7 reasons to choose a catered ski chalet over a hotel:

1. 'Chocolate Box’ charm
2. Chalets are more informal
3. Great breakfasts
4. Afternoon Tea
5. Dinner with unlimited wine
6. Canapés and Champagne
7. Daily Cleaning

  1. ‘Chocolate Box’ charm
A ski chalet is classically a traditional Alpine building. It’s usually made of wood with a pitched roof (to allow the snow to slide off). Chalets can sleep from two people to twenty or more. Many are former family homes and have much more character than a soulless hotel.

  1. Chalets are more informal
The main reason to choose a catered chalet over a hotel is that it is much more informal. There’s no need to ask what you should wear in a ski chalet: it’s your ‘home from home’ during your holiday, so unlike a hotel, there is no dress code.

  1. Great breakfasts
Breakfast is provided every morning. Le Ski catered chalets offer a cooked breakfast, tea (with English tea bags!) and coffee, as well as a spread of fresh crusty baguette and jams, yoghurts, fruit, cereals and porridge on the table to set you up for a day’s skiing on the slopes.

  1. Afternoon Tea
Staying in a catered chalet means you can enjoy a tradition of the chalet holiday: ‘Afternoon Tea’.

After a hard day on the mountain, when you come back to your chalet, you’ll find tea, coffee, hot chocolate, homemade cakes and biscuits waiting for you. Even better, it’s all in comfort of your own living room, so you can relax in a way that would never be possible in a hotel.

  1. Dinner with unlimited wine
In the evening guests in catered ski chalets usually enjoy a full three-course meal, including unlimited wine at dinner, coffee and mints.

Dinner is provided six nights during your holiday, so you also get the chance to explore your ski resort one night and eat out as well.
Any dietary requirements can be catered for, as long as you let them know in advance.

  1. Canapés and Champagne
If you stay in a Le Ski catered chalet, then on your first night you will also be served canapés and champagne.

  1. Daily Cleaning
A catered chalet is cleaned every day, as in a hotel, with towels changed mid-week, so you come back to a spotless and clean chalet every day.
