Our new survey shows UK Snowsports Market will grow by 14%

11-Sep-2023

We are delighted to report some good news for the UK snowsports industry.

Today we have published a new survey conducted by YouGov that predicts that the number of skiers and snowboarders travelling from the UK to ski resorts will increase by 14% this winter.

The survey was conducted by YouGov for us last month. It shows that 1,120,000 British skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes last winter.

And the good news is that another 160,000 holidaymakers plan to join them this coming winter, bringing the total up to 1.28 million – an increase of 14%.

Nick Morgan, founder of Le Ski, is not surprised:

“We already have 60% of our programme sold for this winter. This is great indicator of a post-Covid recovery that is seeing more and more skiers coming back to the mountains.”

The survey also showed that while hotels (50%) and self-catering (29%) are more common, 13% of British skiers prefer to book a catered chalet.

Le Ski customers will not be surprised to read this. We know that a hard-core of British skiers will always choose to book chalets:

“Although the number of chalets available to the UK market has fallen considerably post Brexit and Covid, we have increased our range in Courchevel, Val d’Isère and La Tania.

With 40 years of experience, plus the fact that we are fully ATOL bonded, means skiers have the confidence to book with us again and again.

Our survey is fully representative of the UK population, as sampling by YouGov is statistically weighted to take account of age, gender, social grade, ethnicity and internet access.
