The Le Ski Blog

'Extremely helpful and friendly service. The chalet was very well appointed and in a great location for walking into 1650. I would use Le Ski again and recommend them.'

Snow Report 9th March

10-Mar-2014

Gorgeous blue skies and perfect conditions make a magical March holiday

After snow-laden skies frequently annointed us with those soft, fat flakes in February, we have all been delighted to see that friendly yellow globe popping up regularly on March's weather reports.

The sun well and truly has his hat on all week here in the Alps. The skies are blue and there's piste to piste sunshine. Our staff have been BBQing merrily, and goggle marks are enhancing the cheekbones of most of the locals around town.

But what are the pistes like, I hear you cry? Well, because we're skiing high, and often on North facing slopes, we can rely on the snow being gorgeous until the very end of the season (it's late shutting for a reason!) The piste bashers do an incredible job of grooming the snow into perfect corduroy pistes that freeze overnight and provide a solid base for smooth and flattering morning skiing, with the thaw during the day making the journey home soft and easy.

For off pisters, there's still some nice light snow high up and on the North slopes, but we really would recommend a guide who'll be able to show you how to ski the off piste safely - warm weather often means an increased avalanche risk, especially in the afternoon.

March - a time of piste-side picnics and apres drinks on the terrace. Enjoy...
