'The chalet hosts were very friendly and provided a lovely atmosphere for us to enjoy the beautiful chalet. The food was really good and nothing was too much trouble. As usual all the Le Ski representatives were helpful and friendly.'

Snow Report 10th January

10-Jan-2016

Val D'Isere

After heavy snowfall at the beginning of the week, we had great conditions on Monday and Tuesday with fresh powder. The later part of the week has been very rainy and has washed away and slushed up in resort. Up on the mountain, there has been deep fresh powder but visibility has been very poor, especially complete white out in the afternoon.

Courchevel & La Tania

The snow on Saturday was amazing! It was snowing/sleeting/raining (couldn’t quite make up its mind) but despite this, it did not ruin the skiing! The low cloud caused a few problems, with poor visibility pretty much everywhere on the mountain. There were a few hidden gems in the form of La Tania which had better visibility due to the trees, but it tended to rain down low so it was a case of balancing the two!

However, don’t let the fact that it rained (in parts) put you off. The snow was in really good condition with the bumps easily conquerable! Due to the slightly slushy nature, skis and boards simply cut through any crud and enabled beautiful skiing to take place!

The current weather forecast for Monday/Tuesday is around a metre of snow, so the rainfall that we’ve had recently will do wonders to the piste. The rain will compact the snow that is already on the mountain, creating a solid base for the new snow to stick to!

But please, please, please be careful of rocks and avalanches. The new snow is incredible, but with it can come a complacency that can often make us forget about the fact that one week ago, we were skiing on mud!

Wishing you all a very snowy holiday - have a great week!
