To make the most of your holiday, it's time to think about getting fit for the slopes. There are lots of different ski fitness programmes out there, new to the market this year is a new product called 'Ski Fit' |

SkiFit offers a series of high quality exercises specific to snowports which can be done at home or in the gym and is suitable for all levels of skiers. Each phase of the programme consists of a 60 minute work-out which includes a warm-up, activation exercises, core work, circuits, co-ordination exercises and a final stretch down. For best results it is recommended that these sessions are completed two to three times a week over the eight week period progressing through the phases as fitness improves. |
You can try the programme with the free phase lite - a 20 minute trial work-out, if you like it you can then progress either to phase 1 (£4.99) or the full 8 week programme (9.99) |
Macean-Martin who has worked for more than fifteen years in the world of ellite sport and is a clinical specialist in musculoskeletal sports injuries, is regarded as one of Europe's leading ski and snowboard physioitherapists and regularly treats Chamonix's pro-skiers and mountain professionals. His desire to produce what he describes as a 'pre-habiliatation programme' came after treating ski injuries which he was sure could have been prevented by improved strength in key muscles used in snowsports which rarely get used in other sports or everyday activities. |
If only I had discovered this programme before the 2011/12 ski season I may have prevented the knee injuries I suffeered that year, its been a long slow road to recovery which I wouldn't wish on anyone else. So if you're planning a ski holiday this winter, getting ski-fit should be at the top of your to-do list. If you've already booked your holiday wth us look out for your save on ski extras e-mail which will give you a 25% discount code for the full SkiFit programme. |
